Nnachi Divine has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Umuahia, Abia State, over a publication alleging that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided the residence of former Abia State Governor Theodore Ahamefule Orji and recovered billions of dollars, luxury vehicles and other valuables.

The case centres on a report attributed to Nnachi Divine, which claimed that EFCC operatives recovered $5 billion, 200 exotic cars, gold necklaces valued at N1 trillion and other assets from the former governor’s residence.

The allegations have not been confirmed by the EFCC, and the matter before the court is expected to determine the legal issues surrounding the publication and its claims.

Nnachi Divine’s arraignment follows earlier investigations involving former Abia State Governor Theodore Orji, who served from 2007 to 2015.

Orji had previously been questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations relating to his administration, but he denied any wrongdoing.

However, there is no confirmed evidence that the EFCC recovered the items mentioned in Nnachi Divine’s publication, including the alleged $5 billion, luxury cars and gold necklaces.

The court case will now focus on the claims made in the publication and whether they violated the law.

The development has renewed conversations around responsible online publishing, particularly as social media and digital platforms continue to shape public opinion and political discussions.

Legal observers note that allegations involving public figures require careful verification, especially where claims of financial wrongdoing and asset recovery are involved.

The court proceedings are expected to provide further clarity on the circumstances surrounding the publication, the evidence presented by both sides and the legal arguments concerning the alleged claims.
