North Korea women’s national football team delivered a commanding display as North Korea Women Thrash Bangladesh 10-0 in their opening Group F match at the Asian Games, underlining early credentials as strong contenders for the gold medal.

The emphatic victory was effectively sealed by half-time, with North Korea racing into a seven-goal lead against a Bangladesh side unable to cope with the pace and precision of their opponents.

The result marks one of the most dominant performances in the early stages of the tournament.

North Korea Women Thrash Bangladesh with a blend of clinical finishing and relentless attacking pressure, showcasing the same qualities that have brought the country sustained success at youth level in recent years.

Their transition into senior competition continues to gather momentum.

Striker Ri Song A, born and raised in Japan, added to the scoreline in the second half, providing a notable highlight in front of a lively crowd in Osaka.

Several hundred red-clad supporters created a vibrant atmosphere, chanting and waving flags throughout the match.

The strong backing reflects renewed enthusiasm following North Korea’s return to international sport after a pandemic-enforced absence.

The nation resumed participation at the 2023 Asian Games and later competed at the Paris Olympics, signalling a steady re-engagement with global competition.

The wider context of the tournament adds further intrigue, with more than 100 North Korean athletes competing across 14 sports at the Nagoya-Aichi Games, which officially open on 19 September.

While the result underscores North Korea’s attacking depth, it also highlights the gap in experience and resources between the two sides.

Bangladesh struggled defensively, particularly in the first half, where the match quickly slipped beyond reach.

Attention now turns to a highly anticipated Group F encounter between North Korea and South Korea on 21 September, a fixture expected to carry both sporting and emotional significance.
