NTPIC launches stakeholder engagement to ensure inclusive, humane, and effective implementation of Nigeria’s new tax laws

The National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC), chaired by Mr. Joseph Tegbe, has commenced structured stakeholder engagements to ensure humane and inclusive implementation of Nigeria’s new Tax Acts, Abuja, January 23, 2026.

The committee’s initiative aims to bridge gaps between policy design and execution, aligning implementation with the realities of businesses, citizens, and government agencies.

During initial consultations, NTPIC met with the Presidential Fiscal Policy Reform Committee (PFPRC), led by Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, to align objectives with practical execution.

Mr. Oyedele highlighted challenges stemming from public misinterpretations of certain law provisions and stressed the need for clear communication to manage expectations.

Separately, NTPIC engaged the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, focusing on harmonising priorities and enhancing institutional coordination.

Dr. Adedeji commended the proactive approach, noting that transparent, education-driven implementation would build public confidence over time.

Mr. Tegbe emphasised that ongoing consultations will extend to the National Economic Council, Nigerian Governors’ Forum, local government leaders, and community stakeholders.

He described the new tax laws as a pathway to a fairer, simpler, and more predictable tax system designed to promote voluntary compliance, attract investors, and support sustainable economic growth.
