The attack, which took place late on Thursday, saw armed hoodlums storm the community, robbing residents at gunpoint and injuring several victims.
Reports also indicate that the assailants targeted the palace of Oba Adinlewa John, the traditional ruler of Igoba, who narrowly escaped the assault.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the arrests, saying the swift operation followed a distress call from residents.
“The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of 10 suspects in connection with a violent attack on the Igoba Community at about 11:30 pm,” Ayanlade said.
He added that the suspects, armed with guns, knives, charms, and other dangerous weapons, invaded the area intending to cause destruction.
“One Mrs Ogunoye Oluomo was viciously attacked, injured, and dispossessed of her belongings,” he stated.
The police spokesman noted that the attackers later advanced to the monarch’s palace, where they allegedly attempted to assassinate Oba Adinlewa John. The royal father, however, managed to escape unharmed.
Following the alert, the state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, deployed tactical units led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, resulting in the successful arrest of the suspects.
Ayanlade disclosed that the men have confessed to their roles in the attack and will be charged in court after investigations conclude.
Recovered items from the suspects include two locally fabricated pistols, a single-barrel gun, live ammunition, assorted charms, knives, and machetes.
