‘Horrible!’ One dead as armed robbers sack Access bank, other in Osun (Photos, Video)

Some dare devil armed robbers on Thursday afternoon attacked and robbed two commercial banks in Ire, Osun State.

It was reliably gathered that a stray bullet killed one police officer, identified as Jelili Aladeokin Kayode during the operations.

According to an eyewitness, the armed robbers stormed Access Bank and one other bank at Boripe Local government., around 3:50 pm, and were said to have operated for about 15 minutes before leaving the scene.

A student confirmed that the robbers were shooting sporadically into the air while escaping through Iree-Ada road.

The daredevils were said to have escaped through Ada town.

Osun State Police Command spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.

The armed robbers had attacked the two banks, separated by the police station, killing a man and carting away huge sums of money.

A video showed residents besieging the police facility to have a look at what was left of it.

It was gathered that when the robbers stormed the building, they first headed for the police station, killed a constabulary on duty, and dispersed the crowd. Then, they made their way to both the banks, all along Ikirun Road.

It was also learned criminals used explosives to break the doors of the banks and operated for about 20 minutes before they fled in four vehicles through the Iree/Ada Road.

He noted that the criminal gang who invaded the community were 24 in number and were fully armed.
