The Ovie of Udu Kingdom pledges ₦5 million worth of medical supplies to the Federal Medical Centre, Ovwian, to support healthcare amid rising patient demand

The monarch made the pledge during a visit on Tuesday, where he was received by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Kingsley Akaba, along with the hospital management and staff.

“The medical support is expected to provide essential supplies aimed at improving patient care and easing operational pressure,” the Ovie stated.

Since beginning full operations in early 2026, FMC Ovwian has become a critical referral centre for communities lacking adequate medical infrastructure, now attending over 1,000 patients monthly.

The Ovie commended hospital staff for maintaining services under challenging conditions, urging unity, dedication, and constructive collaboration.

He emphasized that each department is vital to quality healthcare delivery and encouraged staff to embrace solutions-focused feedback.

Highlighting the spiritual aspect of care, he reminded workers that ultimate healing comes from God and offered prayers for wisdom and strength.

Prof. Akaba described the royal visit as “a significant morale booster” and noted the need for additional buildings, modern diagnostic tools, and expanded treatment capacity to cope with growing patient numbers.
