Oyo kidnap 60-year-old man sparks alarm as gunmen abduct trader in Ibadan. Police confirm rescue efforts are underway
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a 60-year-old man, a building materials trader, in a brazen attack along the Jinarere axis of Alakia Road in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday.

The victim was reportedly seized while returning to his residence in what authorities have described as a coordinated and violent operation.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said investigations had commenced and efforts were ongoing to secure the victim’s release.
According to police details, the Oyo kidnap 60-year-old man incident involved four masked armed men who intercepted the trader and forcibly whisked him away in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle.
The attack, which occurred in the bustling Ibadan metropolis, has heightened concern among residents over rising insecurity in parts of the state.
Security operatives have since intensified surveillance and search operations in the area, with authorities assuring the public that all necessary measures are being taken to track down the suspects and rescue the victim unharmed.

As of the time of filing this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the whereabouts of the victim remain unknown.
