Abduction crisis: Oyo Police debunk fake release report of pupils

Oyo Police debunks abduction release rumour, confirming that rescue operations continue for abducted pupils and teachers in Orire LGA

The Oyo State Police Command has debunked viral social media reports claiming that abducted pupils and teachers from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area have been released.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police described the reports as false, misleading and unsubstantiated, urging members of the public to disregard them entirely.

The command clarified that, as of the time of the statement, no such release had taken place, stressing that ongoing rescue operations remain active and coordinated across the affected areas.

The Oyo Police Command’s denial of the release rumour comes amid growing public concern over the safety of the abducted pupils and teachers, an incident that has triggered widespread reactions across the country.

Authorities assured residents that security operatives are fully engaged in intensive efforts to secure the safe return of the victims and ensure the arrest of those responsible for the attack.

The police further noted that all available human and operational resources have been deployed to support the rescue mission and restore calm in the affected communities.

The Command also warned against the spread of unverified information, stating that such reports could trigger unnecessary panic and disrupt ongoing security operations.

It cautioned individuals and groups to verify information before sharing, especially on sensitive security matters that could affect public order.
