Peju Johnson intimacy scene backlash grows as the actress opens up about her personal life and responds to criticism over her film

Nollywood actress Peju Johnson has responded to mounting criticism following the release of her latest film Right Thing, addressing public reactions to a controversial intimacy scene that went viral online, in Lagos, Nigeria, in March 2026.

The Peju Johnson intimacy scene backlash intensified after viewers reacted strongly to the portrayal, prompting the actress to clarify that her on-screen role does not reflect her real-life identity or personal choices.

Speaking via her Instagram page, Peju Johnson stated that she is not attracted to men and has no interest in sex, adding that her family and close associates are fully aware of her stance.

The revelation has added a deeply personal dimension to the ongoing conversation surrounding the film.

She explained that past experiences, including childhood trauma, have significantly shaped her perspective on relationships and intimacy, describing it as a sensitive aspect of her life that should not be judged based on fictional roles.

Peju Johnson further noted that she has not been sexually active since the beginning of 2026, stressing that her decisions are personal and should not be subjected to public scrutiny.

Beyond her personal disclosure, the actress criticised what she described as a persistent and harmful stereotype within the industry, where successful and attractive women are often labelled as immoral.

She described the assumption as unfair and misleading, emphasising that public visibility does not define an individual’s private life or values.

The Peju Johnson intimacy scene backlash has since sparked broader conversations about privacy, typecasting, and the pressures faced by actresses navigating both public perception and personal truth in the entertainment industry.
