Reality TV star Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, and skit maker Carter Efe emerged victorious in their respective celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring event in Lagos.
The event was held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Phyna defeated actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday in their scheduled four-round contest, securing a knockout victory in the final round.
The reality star relied on her movement and speed during the early stages of the bout as Nkechi Blessing pressed forward in search of close-range exchanges. Phyna maintained her composure before landing the decisive punch in the fourth round.
Nkechi Blessing failed to beat the referee’s count, bringing the contest to an end and handing Phyna victory in what was the first female celebrity boxing bout under the Chaos in the Ring series.
Phyna received a ₦50m reward, a championship belt and a new car following her victory. She also indicated that she was interested in pursuing boxing beyond the celebrity contest.
After the fight, she called out actress Etinosa Idemudia, who was present at ringside. Etinosa accepted the challenge, potentially setting up another celebrity bout.
In the other major celebrity contest, Carter Efe defeated rapper Speed Darlington by technical knockout.
Efe dominated much of the four-round contest before the referee stopped the fight after Speed Darlington stopped responding to the exchanges. The victory extended Efe’s unbeaten record in the Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
The result also followed Efe’s unanimous-decision victory over singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus in May. All three judges scored that three-round contest 30-27 in Efe’s favour.
The clash with Speed Darlington had generated considerable attention before fight night, with both entertainers exchanging heated words during the build-up.
The Lagos event also featured professional boxing, with Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeating Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by unanimous decision to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
