The storm, described by residents as sudden and intense, also destroyed health facilities, places of worship, and other critical structures, deepening the humanitarian impact across the community.

The situation has been widely described by locals as overwhelming and deeply distressing.

Mr Dung Danboyi called the incident tragic and issued a strong appeal for urgent intervention, urging the Plateau State Government and emergency agencies to act swiftly.

The Plateau rainstorm destroys homes situation, he said, has left many households without shelter and basic means of survival.

He further appealed to National Emergency Management Agency, Plateau State Emergency Management Agency, and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to provide immediate relief materials to affected residents.

Councillor Gwong Ibrahim also called for rapid government response, stressing that many families are currently struggling to secure temporary shelter and essential supplies in the aftermath of the storm.

Mr Sati Bature Shuwa, Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, visited the affected community to assess the damage and expressed sympathy with victims.

He assured residents that a comprehensive assessment would be conducted to determine the full extent of losses and guide future intervention efforts.

Despite the widespread destruction, Mr Danboyi confirmed that no lives were lost, a detail residents described as a small relief amid what they termed a catastrophic and shocking event.
