‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ produced and co-directed by Funke Akindele, hit cinemas in Nigeria in mid-December last year. Within three weeks of its release, the film grossed over N1 billion, making it the highest-earning Nigerian movie to date.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelali, President Tinubu highlighted the importance of the creative industry, recognizing its role as a significant employer of Nigerian youth. He emphasized that the creative sector is crucial to his administration, and he saluted Nigerians for their unwavering support and patronage of home-grown creative endeavors. President Tinubu pledged to create a conducive environment for the industry to thrive further.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also joined in congratulating Funke Akindele on the historic success of “A Tribe Called Judah.” Posting on X, Atiku celebrated the movie’s groundbreaking achievement in breaking box office records and becoming the first Nigerian movie to earn 1 billion naira in domestic theaters.

Atiku expressed his pride in Funke Akindele’s accomplishments, stating that her success is not only hers but also a source of inspiration for a new generation of filmmakers and storytellers in Nigeria and beyond.
