President Tinubu second term bid

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Tinubu mourns soldiers killed in Borno attack, calls for investigation, and commends military for decisive response against terrorists.

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]resident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy over the tragic loss of six soldiers during a terrorist attack on an army base in Sabon Gida, Damboa, Borno State, on January 4, 2025.

Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, Tinubu emphasised that the ultimate sacrifice made by these brave soldiers in defending the nation will always be honoured and remembered.

In response to the attack, President Tinubu ordered a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He stressed that the findings must serve as a lesson to prevent future occurrences, reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces in their fight against terrorism.

Tinubu commended the military’s swift and effective retaliatory actions, particularly the air component, which launched targeted strikes on fleeing terrorists.

These precision raids resulted in the significant neutralisation of terrorists and the destruction of their assets.

“This resolute action by the Army demonstrates the capability and readiness of our military to confront and defeat threats to our nation’s security.

Their actions testify to our resolve to eradicate terrorism and banditry, paving the way for a future where peace and security prevail for all Nigerians,” the President remarked.

He further praised the military’s sacrifices, stating, “I extend heartfelt gratitude and sympathy to our military and security forces on behalf of a grateful nation.

Your sacrifices and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we stand firmly behind you in this ongoing fight to eliminate these threats.”

President Tinubu also urged the armed forces to adopt a proactive strategy by taking the fight directly to the hideouts of bandits and terrorists.

He particularly highlighted the situation in the Northwest, where criminal groups continue to endanger innocent villagers’ lives and livelihoods.

Calling for national unity, Tinubu appealed to Nigerians and the media to support the military’s efforts in restoring peace and security across the country.

His statement underscores the importance of a collective approach to overcoming security challenges and achieving lasting stability.

As the nation mourns the fallen soldiers, the President’s message reaffirms the government’s determination to tackle terrorism decisively and secure a peaceful future for all Nigerians.
