Promasidor has launched the Eco Alert App to encourage employee participation in sustainability initiatives, as the company reports a 30 per cent reduction in paper usage and significant savings from improved resource management.
The platform was unveiled during the company’s Sustainability Day 2026 employee engagement event, providing staff with a dedicated channel to report sustainability-related concerns and support their timely resolution.

The initiative is designed to make sustainability a shared responsibility by helping employees identify issues, raise concerns and contribute to improvements in resource efficiency across the workplace.
Promasidor said the launch reflects its belief that building a sustainable organisation requires more than policies and targets, with employees’ everyday actions playing an important role in reducing waste and improving operational practices.
Speaking at the event, the company’s Chief Technical Officer, Brighton Ochieng, highlighted progress made in its sustainability efforts despite the challenges encountered.
Ochieng disclosed that Promasidor had reduced paper usage by 30 per cent year-to-date, while improved approaches to water and energy consumption had further strengthened resource efficiency.
He added that the measures had generated significant savings for the company this year, demonstrating the potential business benefits of more responsible resource management.
The reported progress highlights how reducing waste and improving the use of essential resources can contribute to operational efficiency while supporting environmental objectives.
Promasidor’s Packaging and Sustainability Manager, Solomon Makanjuola, also highlighted the growing importance of sustainability to the business.
He shared insights into emerging sustainability trends and encouraged employees to make more conscious choices in their daily activities.
The event also recognised employees whose contributions have helped advance the company’s sustainability agenda.
The Heat Factory received special recognition for adopting a paperless process, demonstrating how changes to routine workplace practices can help conserve resources.
Employees also participated in a sustainability quiz designed to test their knowledge and reinforce lessons from the event.
The programme concluded with attendees pledging to embrace sustainable practices beyond the workplace, extending their commitment to their homes and wider communities.
The pledge reinforced the message that sustainability requires consistent action in everyday life, rather than awareness alone.
With the introduction of the Eco Alert App, Promasidor aims to make it easier for employees to report sustainability concerns and participate in identifying areas for improvement.
The company said the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to building a workplace culture in which employees actively contribute to sustainability goals.
