Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal says he is prepared for the rerun election that the Court of Appeal ordered in a recent decision, emphasizing that the opposition is jealous of the progress he has made in the state in his first five months in office.
Speaking to his supporters yesterday at the party’s Gusau secretariat, Lawal said that God had chosen him to the position of governor and that he would hold it regardless of how much “hypocrisy” the opposition displayed.
The Court of Appeal ruled in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, former Governor Bello Matawalle, canceling the governorship election in Zamfara state and ordering a rerun in three local governments: Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukkuyum.
Lawal, however, insisted that he would not let the opposition stop him from bringing about more developments in the state.
The governor expressed hope that he would still win the rerun election and urged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters in the state to maintain composure and abide by the law.
He expressed appreciation to supporters of the PDP for their support and encouragement through their prayers which he said had given him more zeal to pilot the affairs of the state.
