‘Reappointed.’ Be proactive, NANS charges TASCE provost on development

The National Association of Nigerian Students Southwest Zone, NANS Zone D, has congratulated Dr. Lukman Kiadese for his reappointment as the Provost of Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu.

The reappointment was as a result of the giant stride achievements recorded by the erudite Doctor.

The Deputy Coordinator NANS South west Zone D, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman said his reappointment was as a result of his giant stride achievements recorded by Dr. Kiadese.

He said ”We commend the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR for the decision to reappoint the incumbent Provost amidst mild controversies trialling the management of the institution over the appointment exercise.”

”We are impressed by his wisdom to follow the unprecedented recommendation of the governing council and the various undisputable landmark achievements of the educationist during his first tenure in office.”

‘We hereby charge the Provost to do the needful to surpass his previous records. Welfarism of our members (Nigerian Students) and staffs of the college should be the core of his administration’s vision.

All lingering issues and unresolved grievances from various stakes within the college should be promptly addressed.

”The Provost should also see to timely remuneration of the staffs, bearing in mind that adequate reward for labour is the primary motivation for sustained diligence, especially in this trying period”

The leadership of all Nigerian Students in Southwest Geopolitical Zone have received reports of intimidation and harassment of student leaders in the College. An organisation where all powers to make decision are vested in one body without provision for viable checks is prone abuse.

Hence, the Students Union and various departmental associations under it should be accorded the place of such check. They should be allowed to function under a constitutionally regulated, yet free atmosphere. Students are the major stakeholders of any academic institution.

We also encourage the Provost to do more with infrastructural development of the college so that it can steadily compete in the comity of Colleges of Education both nationally and internationally.
