According to Rita, she was the last to know about her daughter’s relationship with Ned Nwoko. Contrary to public belief that she orchestrated the marriage, she revealed that Regina was firm in her decision and even reacted emotionally when questioned about it.
“When Regina got married and the world said I was the one who forced her, they claimed I sold her to an older man. What they didn’t know is that I wasn’t even aware when they started dating,” Rita explained.
She recounted that Ned Nwoko did not approach her officially until after his political campaign, adding that by the time she confronted Regina, her daughter’s determination was unmistakable.
“I was weak, but what was I to do? Should I chase my daughter away? I had to stand with her,” she said.
Rita Daniels admitted feeling overwhelmed but ultimately prioritised her daughter’s happiness over societal criticism.
“People can insult me and say what they want; my daughter’s happiness is my priority,” she added with resolve.
The veteran actress concluded that enduring public judgment was a small price to pay for family peace. “It is better they call me names.
What matters is that my family is at peace and my daughter is happy in her marriage,” she affirmed.
