Inuwa, a prominent figure in Northern Nigeria’s film industry, was taken into custody by operatives of the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate on 3 February 2026 following the circulation of a viral video.
The footage showed the actress using Naira notes to wipe mucus from her nose, sparking widespread public attention.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that the viral video prompted swift action.
“Operatives tracked the actress after the video went viral and subsequently arrested her for questioning in connection with the alleged currency mutilation,” he said.
Inuwa is currently being held at the Commission’s facility as investigations continue.
Oyewale added that she would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
