The club made the announcement via its official X handle on Tuesday, following a comprehensive recruitment process led by Edu Gaspar, Nottingham Forest’s Global Head of Football, and George Syrianos, the Global Technical Director.
Dyche, a former Forest youth player, returns to the club with deep roots and a renewed mission.
He is set to take charge of his first match on Thursday night as The Reds face FC Porto in the Europa League.
Joining Dyche are trusted long-time colleagues Ian Woan and Steve Stone, both of whom also have deep Forest ties.
Between them, Woan and Stone made over 400 appearances for Nottingham Forest in the 1990s, adding historic continuity to a modern era appointment.
“A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen, and proven achievement,” the club said.
With over 330 Premier League matches under his belt, Dyche is known for building sides characterised by defensive discipline, resilience, and set-piece strength — all qualities that align with the current squad’s profile and the club’s footballing DNA.
His return also carries symbolic weight. As a local resident and former Forest youth product, Dyche understands the culture, pride, and expectations of Nottingham Forest supporters.
“With his character, tactical acumen, and man-management skills, his appointment represents the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions,” the statement added.
Dyche steps in following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, as previously reported by PUNCH Online, and is tasked with steadying Forest’s form both in the Premier League and on the continental stage.
