Funmi Ayinke Record Label inspires young Nigerian artistes with a vision to elevate talents, launching with three gifted signees at RadissonBlu, Ikeja.
A new Nigerian music record label, FunmiAyinke Records Label, FRL, has been launched in Lagos by the popular philanthropist and industrialist, Engr. Dr. Funmi Ayinke Waheed – Adekojo, simply known and fondly called Funmi Ayinke.
The event, which took place at the prestigious RadissonBlu Hotel, Ikeja, was a two-in-one celebration as the new record label unveiled its pioneer artistes to be signed on the record.
According to her, the certified mechanical engineer, who is also a singer, revealed that the inspiration to sing came to her during the #ENDSARS period.
“I dropped a challenge on my Instagram page (Funmiayinketalentshow) in order to get goal getters during the period and one thing led to the other, I started embedding my messages in songs to tell the youths that if I can do it, any Nigeria child with aspirations can too.
“Then the record label became necessary when we had to provide a platform for these youngsters to realise their dreams. It is to elevate the talented youths, take them from the scratch and build them up to become a successful and the best both in Nigeria music industry and internationally,” she said.
The journey then led to the event held recently where three artistes she met on her Instagram page eventually became the pioneer artistes to be signed to the label. Funmi Ayinke revealed that these three artistes were the most privileged among the Funmi Ayinke Humanity Foundation Family.
“These three are the most privileged ones among the Funmi Ayinke Humanity Foundation family. We have over 5000 youths in Funmi Ayinke Humanity Foundation but we want to start we these three,” she said.
Funmi Ayinke revealed that the newly signed artistes were mentored by even before the birth of her record label. They were Victory Patrick Omonaye, Omoh Sokeh, whose genre is Afro-soul and Afro-pop; Bamiduro Oluwayemisi also known as Conffyghold, who specialises in Afro-pop, Afro-souls and R&B; and lastly, Chibike Timothy, known as Timsingz, his genre is soul, inspirational, R&B.
During the event well attended by the media, Funmi Ayinke stated that the new record label is a motivational and inspirational records for all regardless of religion.
According to her, she believed that music could resuscitate a dying mind and this she proved when she recalled an incident where her song inspired a suicide victim to have a rethink.
“When I did the song, I sent it to one of my FHL daughter. At the time, I never knew she was actually going through a stage of committing suicide. The song actually made her realized she needed to be alive so she sent a voice note to me and I started crying but I was happy because I obeyed God.”
She revealed that her motive is not for any financial gain but to help rid the society of the increasing number of unemployed youths roaming the streets.
