According to the statement, the break will allow Shettima to dedicate time to personal study, reflection and reviewing ongoing government programmes as the administration continues the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The statement noted that the Vice President will use the period to deepen his understanding of emerging national and global policy issues while preparing for future responsibilities.

Since becoming Vice President, Shettima has played key roles in coordinating government initiatives, particularly in areas such as economic development, food security, humanitarian affairs, digital transformation, job creation and regional cooperation.

He has also chaired the National Economic Council, which includes state governors, the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor and other key government officials responsible for discussing economic policies affecting Nigerians.
