Nigeria protest against Trump threats.

Protesters demonstrating against US policies and Trump threats in Nigeria, holding banners and flags, including a powerful effigy representing then-US President Donald Trump, during a significant political rally.

Shi’a protest Trump threat in Kano on Saturday, as members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) took to the streets to denounce the United States President’s warning of possible military intervention in Nigeria.

The demonstrators marched through major streets of the city, displaying placards and banners rejecting Donald Trump’s claims of religious persecution.

Some participants were seen symbolically placing a US flag on the ground, while others carried images of the American leader in disapproval.

Trump had, last Friday, redesignated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern”, alleging widespread persecution of Christians and warning that the US military could intervene if the Nigerian government failed to act.

He reportedly instructed the US Department of War to prepare contingency plans for a possible strike, citing alleged religious killings in the country.

Responding to the statement, Abdullahi Danladi, a member of the IMN Resource Department, dismissed the claims as false, inflammatory, and divisive.

“These claims are baseless and designed to create discord between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria. Our country’s problems are not religious; they stem from corruption, selfish politics, and greed,” Danladi said.

He stressed that the group remains committed to peace and national unity, urging Nigerians not to succumb to foreign manipulation.

“We support unity and harmony among all communities. Nigerians must not allow foreign agendas to divide us. Our struggle is for justice and fairness, not to fall prey to lies meant to destabilise our society,” he added.

When contacted for an official comment, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said he would provide an update after reviewing the situation.

However, as of the time of filing this report, no formal statement had been issued.

Analysts believe the Shi’a protest Trump threat reflects growing public resentment toward perceived Western interference in Nigeria’s internal affairs.
