The initiative, conceived by S&G Concept and MetroNews Nigeria, aims to recognize and reward outstanding players in Lagos Computer Village, a renowned tech hub located in Ikeja, Lagos.
The event, slated to become an annual affair, is expected to bring together key individuals and organizations shaping the tech landscape.
Otunba Femi Davies, the publisher of Metronews, expressed the necessity of such an award, stating, “Lagos Computer Village is the gadget and tech hub of Nigeria. An award like this has been a long time coming. It is highly needed to encourage growth and stimulate healthy competition.”
The awards will cover various categories, with 24 distinctions planned for the inaugural edition.
Otunba Davies shed light on the awards model, emphasizing the involvement of a jury comprising eminent journalists, bankers, customers, and industry stakeholders. This diverse panel is tasked with maintaining the integrity of the selection process.
The awards will not only recognize technological achievements but will also encompass social accomplishments, creating a holistic acknowledgment of contributors to the industry.
The event promises more than just accolades, as the audience will be treated to a performance by the multiple award-winning cross-over music star, SB.
The initiative has garnered support from partners such as Society Reporters, Sinatra’s Place, Coca-Cola, Henessey, House 9 Hotels, Avid Waters, and other corporate sponsors.
