The event reinforced the Focus Keyword Soludo Boosts Aviation as the governor outlined a clear plan to modernise airport facilities and draw more regional and international traffic.

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo said the commissioning formed part of a multi-phased upgrade designed to streamline passenger operations and position Anambra as a destination of choice.

He described the facility as a strategic addition that would support investment growth across the state.

According to Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the administration views modern aviation infrastructure as a major pillar of its development agenda.

He said the improved facilities would support job creation, skills development and wider air connectivity.

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo added that the new lounge demonstrates the government’s determination to deliver practical solutions in every sector.

The governor said that by delivering a world-class Protocol Lounge, his administration was improving passenger experience and sending a clear message to investors.

He called the project a vital step toward sustainable growth and a more competitive business environment.

He also stressed the need for collaboration with federal regulators and international aviation partners to maintain compliance with global standards.

Christian Aburime explained that the Protocol Lounge offers secure and comfortable spaces for dignitaries, government officials and high-profile travellers.

The lounge includes executive seating, exclusive waiting rooms, enhanced security and dedicated check-in points.

He said the upgrade was timely due to rising passenger numbers driven by improved security and infrastructure in the state.

Stakeholders at the event welcomed the development. Commissioner for Transportation Patricia Igwebuike said the improved airport facilities would stimulate commerce, tourism and investment in Umueri and across Anambra State.

She called the project a powerful sign of the government’s commitment to modern transport infrastructure.

Chinua Achebe International Airport remains central to Anambra’s aviation aspirations.
