Nigerian Army neutralises 18 terrorists, rescues 14 victims

Nigerian Army operations neutralise 18 terrorists, rescue 14 kidnapped victims, and apprehend 47 suspects across multiple regions in 48 hours

The Nigerian Army has neutralised 18 terrorists, rescued 14 kidnapped victims, and apprehended 47 suspects across multiple regions in intensified operations over the past 48 hours, a credible source at the Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.

In the North-East, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion repelled an ISWAP/JAS attack in Dutsen Nonu, Biu Local Government Area, on Saturday morning.

Ground and air interdiction resulted in 15 terrorists killed and two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices destroyed.

Two suspected logistics suppliers were also apprehended in Maiduguri with materials suspected for IED fabrication, and handed over to the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade.

In the North-West, Operation FANSAN Yamma troops intervened in a communal clash in Guri Local Government Area, Jigawa, and intercepted terrorists in Zamfara and Kebbi, rescuing injured civilians and recovering a motorcycle.

In Kaduna’s Jema’a Local Government Area, troops and hunters apprehended a suspected kidnapper in Godogodo village.

Under Operation Peace Shield in Wase LGA, Plateau State, troops recovered 110 cows and 46 sheep after dislodging violent extremists, with efforts ongoing to identify the rightful owners.

Eleven undocumented migrants from Niger Republic were intercepted in Yakurr Local Government Area, Cross River, and handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Meanwhile, troops of 195 Battalion in Edo State, under Operation WABAIZIGAN, arrested 33 suspected Aiye cult members along Avielle Road, Etsako West Local Government Area.

Weapons, mobile phones, motorcycles, and other items were recovered, with suspects reportedly returning from an initiation ceremony in Agbede Forest.

In Taraba State, Operation Whirl Stroke rescued two kidnapped victims in Amadu town, Kurmi Local Government Area, while two others escaped their abductors.

The military source reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining nationwide operations to protect citizens and maintain security.
