The governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, issued the heartfelt tribute following Buhari’s passing on Sunday in the United Kingdom at the age of 82.

In a condolence message shared through his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo acknowledged Buhari’s towering role in Nigeria’s history, stating that his death marks the end of an era.

According to Soludo, the late president’s entire life journey—from his early career in the military to his leadership as both Head of State and later as a democratically elected president—reflected a deep love for Nigeria and its people.

“Late President Buhari was a leader who believed in the unity and potential of Nigeria, working tirelessly towards a nation where peace and prosperity would reign,” Soludo stated.

The governor praised Buhari’s legacy in promoting national discipline through the iconic War Against Indiscipline (WAI) campaign during his military rule.

He said the campaign became a defining symbol of the president’s commitment to moral order and civic responsibility.

Late President Buhari was a leader who believed in the unity and potential of Nigeria, working tirelessly towards a nation where peace and prosperity would reign.

Reflecting on Buhari’s contributions in the civilian era, Soludo acknowledged the former leader’s efforts in critical areas such as security, anti-corruption, and infrastructure development.

He said that Buhari’s tenure also saw investments in agriculture and programmes aimed at boosting Nigeria’s economy and citizen welfare.

Beyond policy, Governor Soludo highlighted Buhari’s personal character, describing him as a man of immense conviction whose calm resolve and commitment to principle served as an inspiration, even amid daunting national challenges.

He further noted that Buhari’s vision of a united and self-reliant Nigeria would continue to shape the national conscience for generations to come.

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s life was characterised by an unyielding commitment to integrity, discipline, and the pursuit of a better Nigeria,” the governor noted.

Governor Soludo extended his heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and all citizens mourning the loss.

He offered prayers for Allah to grant the former president eternal rest and give comfort to those who grieve.
