South African Air Force Nigeria visit earns praise as Lt. Gen. Wiseman Mbambo commends NAF’s professionalism and regional security leadership.

South African Air Force Nigeria visit has drawn widespread attention after the Chief of the South African Air Force, Lieutenant General Wiseman Simo Mbambo, lauded the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its professionalism, operational excellence, and commitment to regional security.

The visit, which took place on Monday, October 28, 2025, at the Headquarters Tactical Air Command (TAC) in Makurdi, was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and fostering deeper airpower cooperation between both nations.

In a statement shared by the NAF on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Lieutenant General Mbambo commended the Nigerian Air Force for its “remarkable professionalism and growth,” describing it as proof of Africa’s potential to drive indigenous airpower innovation.

“The Nigerian Air Force has demonstrated remarkable professionalism and growth, reflecting Africa’s capacity to develop its own airpower solutions,” Mbambo said. “Collaboration between our Air Forces is vital to building a safer and more secure continent.”

The South African delegation, accompanied by the NAF Chief of Operations, Air Vice Marshal Francis Edosa, was received by the Air Officer Commanding TAC, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Obeya, alongside other senior officers.

The visiting team was briefed on the Command’s organisational structure, air defence functions, and its contributions to Nigeria’s internal security efforts.

In his remarks, Air Vice Marshal Obeya described the visit as “a symbol of unity and professional solidarity between two leading Air Forces on the African continent,” noting that the engagement would foster opportunities for joint training, technological collaboration, and enhanced air operations across Africa.

The visit featured static and aerial displays at the 131 Engineering Group, showcasing NAF’s capabilities and innovation.

Both Air Forces reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, progress, and continental stability, underscoring the growing spirit of cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa.
