Tacha Guinness World Record attempt for most makeovers in 24 hours earns Lagos State’s support, spotlighting Nigeria’s booming beauty industry this October

Tacha Guinness World Record attempt has gained the official backing of the Lagos State Government, ahead of her bold move to complete 150 cosmetic makeovers within 24 hours in a bid to enter the Guinness World Records.

The attempt is the centrepiece of the Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day celebration of Nigeria’s beauty, culture, and entrepreneurship, set to run from 10 to 12 October 2025 at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History in Lagos.

Media personality and entrepreneur Tacha Akide, who rose to fame via reality television, is aiming not only to break a world record but also to uplift Nigeria’s fast-growing beauty industry.

Speaking on the development, Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, described the initiative as more than a personal challenge.

“This is more than a record attempt. It is a statement that Nigerian creativity and excellence can compete anywhere in the world,” Aregbe said on Sunday.

“The Tacha Beauty Festival is about empowering talent, celebrating culture, and creating a space where beauty meets opportunity, and Lagos State is proud to support this project.”

The festival is billed as a convergence of commerce, creativity, and cultural pride, with an array of activities that go far beyond the record-breaking makeover marathon.

Workshops, masterclasses, vendor showcases, and networking events are all part of the programme, designed to promote local enterprise and empower young professionals in the beauty and lifestyle sectors.

Notable features include training sessions in makeup artistry, skincare, fashion, and wellness, as well as a vendor village spotlighting emerging beauty brands and entrepreneurs.

Tacha described the attempt as a chance to showcase Nigerian excellence on a global stage while inspiring young creatives to pursue ambitious goals.

“This is about dreaming boldly and showing that Nigerian talent has no limits,” she said.

The Tacha Guinness World Record attempt follows a trend of high-profile Nigerian GWR bids in recent months.

Just last week, celebrity chef Hilda Baci officially claimed the world record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, a feat confirmed by Guinness World Records after her successful event in Victoria Island, Lagos.

As Lagos continues to establish itself as both a cultural hub and a driver of youth-led innovation, the beauty festival aligns with wider efforts to foster economic growth through creativity and local enterprise.
