Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Special Adviser on Political Affairs in the Office of the Vice-President, made this assertion during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Political Paradigm” programme, stating that the President had failed to meet expectations regarding governance quality.

Baba-Ahmed, who recently resigned from his advisory role and is also a former spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), declared: “Clearly, the Tinubu administration has failed expectations that it was going to radically improve the quality of governance.”

He argued that the administration’s performance should be judged not solely by international ratings and statistics, but crucially by the tangible impact on citizens’ lives.

“They will tell you they are doing great with all the World Bank statistics, all the international ratings and everything, but that’s not the only measures you use to measure a government; you measure by the way citizens live, and if that is the yardstick by which we are going to measure this administration, then clearly, the Tinubu administration has failed expectations that it was going to radically improve the quality of governance of President Buhari,” he elaborated.

Clearly, the Tinubu administration has failed expectations that it was going to radically improve the quality of governance.

Baba-Ahmed advised the President to urgently address pressing issues such as corruption and insecurity. He also urged the government to mitigate poverty and commit significant time and resources to infrastructure and social development.

The former aide specifically noted that the removal of the petrol subsidy by the Tinubu government had “significantly impacted the quality of life for average Nigerians.”

He further suggested that the President should leverage his presidential power to ensure that funds disbursed to governors, particularly those from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), are used judiciously.

Lamenting the prevalent issues, he stated, “So much waste, so much abuse of resources and corruption going on.”

Baba-Ahmed concluded by advocating for the President to take concrete steps to increase accountability and improve governance across all three tiers of government, intensifying the Tinubu Administration Criticism from a former insider.
