Tinubu UK visit ends as president returns to Lagos for Eid, highlighting new agreements and strengthened Nigeria-UK relations
President Bola Tinubu early Friday arrived in Lagos after concluding a successful two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.

President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport at about 1.15am.
The president was received by Lagos State Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, alongside party stakeholders.
As part of his Eid-el-Fitr schedule, President Bola Tinubu is expected to join Muslim faithful for prayers at the Dodan Barracks Eid ground later on Friday.
In his Sallah message, the president urged Muslims to uphold the values of Ramadan, including piety, compassion and unity.
“We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion beyond this period,” he said.
The Tinubu UK visit featured high-level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
The president held talks with United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street.
Both countries agreed on a £746 million deal to refurbish two major ports in Lagos, signalling a major boost to economic cooperation.
President Bola Tinubu described the visit as “very thrilling and significant,” noting that it was the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to the United Kingdom in 37 years.
Discussions during the visit covered trade, economic development, climate change, terrorism and global challenges.
The president and the First Lady were also hosted by King Charles III at a State Banquet in Windsor Castle, where he emphasised shared values between both nations.

President Bola Tinubu said Nigeria and the United Kingdom remain committed to building a future anchored on partnership, mutual respect and resilience.
