Toke Makinwa has denied marriage rumours that surfaced during her 40th birthday party, clarifying that she is just friends with Farouk Umar.

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]opular media personality Toke Makinwa has firmly dismissed recent rumours of a secret marriage during her 40th birthday Thanksgiving party in Lagos.

The speculation arose after a video of Toke and entertainment guru Farouk Umar, who was dressed in a white outfit alongside her traditional attire of ‘buba and sokoto,’ went viral on social media, leading many to believe they had tied the knot.

At the birthday celebration, Toke addressed the swirling gossip, clarifying that she and Farouk are merely friends. She expressed gratitude for his support during challenging times in her life. “On Obasanjo’s internet, they said I got married to this guy.

This guy is my best friend. Listen, on Toke Makinwa’s internet, they said I married Farouk. Farouk, my friend, ore mi… this is my nigga and my friend, my brother, who wan marry you. Farouk held me down when there was nobody,” she said.

The media personality also took a moment to reflect on her tumultuous marriage with her former partner, Maje Ayida, which ended in divorce in 2017 amid allegations of infidelity.

Toke shared her heartfelt gratitude to God for the strength she found to endure those trying times, recalling how she felt as though she would “die” the day she ended her marriage.

She expressed appreciation for her friends who stood by her during those difficult moments, stating, “Jesus, you comforted me when my friends left me.

Jesus, you saw me through a divorce. When I thought I was going to die, when I did not know if I was going to wake up the next day, somehow you held me together.”

Toke’s emotional reflections resonated with many attendees, and she concluded by acknowledging her friends’ unwavering support. “I thank God for all my friends here.

I thank God that I am not looking out to look for you guys; I am looking up. I have not been the best of friends for you guys, but somehow, you see something, and I am grateful.”
