Established in 1982 as a representative office in New York, UBA America received a federal banking licence in 1984, allowing it to operate as a full-fledged branch with the same privileges as a US national bank.

This enabled UBA America to provide a range of innovative financial solutions, including trade finance, payment services, loan services, and foreign exchange.
Over the past four decades, UBA America has emerged as a key player in the financial sector, catering to the needs of African banks, global corporations, and development organisations.
UBA’s Group Managing Director and CEO, Oliver Alawuba, lauded UBA America’s contributions, emphasising its innovative solutions and strong corporate governance.
He noted that the branch’s success over 40 years reflects UBA’s vision and determination to make a substantial impact in the financial industry.
