Governor Umo Bassey Eno launches a tourism transformation strategy, linking heritage, leisure, and commercial sectors to drive economic growth

The initiative expands Nigeria’s tourism economy beyond traditional religious attractions to include heritage, leisure, commercial ventures, and cultural diplomacy.

Highlighting Nigeria’s rich assets, such as Yankari Game Reserve and the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, Governor Eno emphasised that tourism is both an industry and a development philosophy, intersecting with aviation, medical investments, agriculture, resorts, entertainment, hospitality, and infrastructure.

The governor’s vision has already inspired innovative projects, including the upcoming ARISE Resort, a redevelopment of a previously underutilised and unsafe zone, now transformed into a premier tourism destination.

His integrated approach aims to attract investors, visitors, and commerce while enhancing cultural diplomacy across the state.

Officials said the strategy would leverage land, infrastructure, hospitality markets, and visitor experience to position the state as a leading tourism hub in Nigeria and the African continent.

Analysts note that Governor Eno’s approach reflects a deliberate pivot from narrow tourism streams toward a holistic economic model designed to stimulate jobs, revenue, and sustainable development.

Tourism stakeholders have welcomed the move, citing its potential to create long-term economic benefits and unlock the state’s untapped cultural and natural resources.
