According to eyewitnesses and confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the shuttle was overspeeding before it rammed into the parked truck.

Initial reports on social media exaggerated the death toll, alleging five student fatalities. However, UNIPORT spokesperson Dr. Sammy Kpenu clarified only one student died.

He confirmed Silvia Oko’s identity and added that another student, Chidinma Blessing, survived with facial injuries and underwent a successful surgery.
