Warri Kingdom Coronation Anniversary celebrates Olu of Warri’s four years of prosperous leadership with faith, culture, and unity
The Warri Kingdom Coronation Anniversary has commenced with grandeur as the Itsekiri people began a seven-day celebration marking the fourth coronation year of His Majesty Ògíamè Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri.

The festivities opened with a thanksgiving service at the Palace Church in Aghofen. Members of the Iwere Nation lifted prayers and songs of praise, describing the monarch’s reign as four years of prosperous leadership and unity.
The opening ceremony blended worship with collective supplication, as attendees prayed for continued wisdom, peace, and progress for the Warri Kingdom.
It was a moment that underscored the resilience and strength of the Itsekiri people under their revered traditional ruler.
Throughout the week, a variety of programs will unfold including educational lectures, traditional homage, and cultural exhibitions.
Sons and daughters of the kingdom are expected to join hands in honouring the Olu’s leadership milestones.
On August 19, the schedule features a hospital commissioning, an Itsekiri Language competition, and novelty football matches for men and women.
Nigerian football legends are set to join the excitement, adding star power to the cultural celebrations.
