Wizkid 2Baba Clash erupts after the singer criticises 2Baba’s claim that Burna Boy leads the Afrobeats Big 3 globally
Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has publicly criticised veteran singer Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, over remarks that Burna Boy currently leads Nigeria’s “Big 3” on the global music stage.

The reaction followed a recent interview in which 2Baba told broadcaster Seun Okinbaloye that he considers Burna Boy the most prominent internationally among the trio of Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy, artists widely regarded as Nigeria’s most influential global music exports.
Responding on his Snapchat page, Wizkid dismissed the comment in sharp terms, describing 2Baba as an “old man” and urging him to focus on personal family matters rather than weighing in on industry rankings.
“I’m never letting it slack in 2026. At least make peace with your family first before having opinions about music. Old man,” Wizkid wrote.
The Wizkid 2Baba Clash has intensified the long-running debate over dominance within the Afrobeats scene, a conversation that frequently resurfaces among fans and industry observers as the genre continues its rapid global expansion.
2Baba’s comments had reignited discussion around the so-called “Big 3”, with Burna Boy widely recognised for major international awards, stadium tours and chart success in recent years.
Wizkid has previously asserted his own global standing, maintaining that his influence and international achievements place him at the forefront of the genre.
The exchange reflects the competitive but influential nature of Nigeria’s Afrobeats ecosystem, where public statements by leading figures often spark widespread reaction across social media and fan communities.

Despite the rivalry narratives, analysts say the global rise of Afrobeats has been driven by the collective success of its leading stars, whose international reach continues to elevate Nigerian music on the world stage.
