Yul Edochie denies blocking Judy Austin’s ex from seeing his children, saying the matter should be resolved directly with the children’s mother

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has denied allegations that he prevented Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of his wife Judy Austin, from having access to his children, insisting that the matter is solely between the children’s parents..

Edochie made the clarification in a post shared on his X account following growing public reactions to claims made by Obasi during a recent appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast.

The controversy gained renewed attention after Obasi spoke about his previous marriage to Austin, making allegations about her relationship history and claiming he had difficulties accessing their children.

In response, Austin rejected the claims, describing several of Obasi’s statements as contradictory and untrue. She maintained that her marriage to Obasi ended in 2012 and said she did not meet Edochie until 2016 while working on a movie set.

Austin also dismissed suggestions that she had prevented Obasi from seeing their children. According to her, the children initially lived with her parents before relocating to Enugu in 2018.

She further praised Edochie for his role in their lives, describing him as a supportive father figure who has consistently provided emotional and financial support.

Reacting to calls from some social media users who urged him to facilitate a reunion between Obasi and the children, Edochie said he had never interfered in the matter.

“Some of my fans have reached out to me, saying please allow him to see his children,” Edochie wrote.

“I have never stopped anybody from seeing his children.”

The actor stressed that any discussions regarding custody or access should be handled directly between Obasi and Austin.

“Tell him to call his ex-wife if he wants to see or take his children. Let them discuss it. He has her number,” he added.

Edochie also criticised the growing trend of taking personal family disputes to social media instead of resolving them privately, suggesting that some individuals were using his name to attract public attention.

“In this era of social media, people prefer chasing clout and chasing social media money with my name, rather than doing the right thing,” he said.

“It has nothing to do with me.”

The latest exchange has once again drawn public attention to the actor’s personal life, which has remained a subject of intense discussion since April 2022 when he publicly introduced Judy Austin as his second wife.

The announcement sparked widespread reactions across Nigeria and within the entertainment industry, particularly because Edochie was already married to May Edochie at the time.

The development led to a prolonged public dispute between the former couple. In August 2023, May Edochie filed for divorce and sought N100 million in damages, further intensifying public interest in the family saga.

While the disagreement involving Austin and her former husband continues to generate debate online, Edochie has maintained that any issue concerning access to the children should be resolved directly by the biological parents rather than through public exchanges.
