NATIONAL broadcaster Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has announced that it will beam live to millions of Nigerians the matches of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) from Cote d’Ivoire.

The tournament will kick off on Saturday and end on February 11, with the Super Eagles of Nigeria joining 23 other national teams in the quest for the continent’s most sought-after trophy.

NTA, which claims to have the widest reach in the country with millions of viewers, confirmed that it will broadcast all the 52 matches of the tournament in conjunction with AfroSports.

“Newsflash. NTA signs Memorandum of Understanding with AFRO SPORTS for transmission of 52 matches of Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire,” it announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, today.

The continent’s most prominent cable television service provider Multichoice, through its SuperSport channels, missed out on the AFCON 2023 broadcast after being outbid by the relatively new New World TV, who acquired the rights to sub-Sahara Africa.

Another cable television outfit StarTimes will also show the AFCON 2023 matches in Nigeria after striking a deal with New World TV.
