Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, called on President Bola Tinubu-led government to take swift and decisive action in bringing to justice the perpetrators behind the brutal assassination of two Ekiti State monarchs.

Gunmen ambushed and assassinated Elesun of Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin, and his Imojo counterpart, Oba Olatunde Olusola, on Monday, leaving the Yoruba community in shock and grief. Alara of Ara Ekiti, Oba Adebaye Fatoba, narrowly escaped the attack that occurred on the highway between Ipapo and Oke Ake.

In his statement, Sunday Igboho expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragic incident, extending his sympathy to the innocent school children recently kidnapped in Eporo Ekiti of Emure Local Government Area. Igboho emphasized that these events not only signify a profound loss for the Yoruba people but also cast a somber shadow on the community’s identity as a peace-loving society.

Igboho categorically condemned the barbaric murders and called on both the state and Federal Governments to take decisive action in bringing the perpetrators to justice. He urged for the immediate apprehension of the murderers and a thorough search of the surrounding woods and forests to root out those hiding to perpetrate such evil deeds.

Expressing the urgency of the situation, Igboho appealed to the government at all levels to allow the mobilization of local community vigilantes to complement the efforts of security agencies in protecting the people. He stressed the pain caused by these incidents, asserting that people deserve to live in a secure environment.

In his concluding remarks, Igboho issued a stern warning, stating, “All those connected to such wicked acts, be it for politics, criminality, or sheer wickedness, should know that the end is near.” The Yoruba freedom fighter urged a collaborative effort between the government and local communities to ensure the safety and security of the people, calling for an end to the menace plaguing not only Ekiti State but other states facing similar challenges.
