President Bola Tinubu has come under fire from the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), which has accused his administration of showing little sympathy for the suffering of the underprivileged.

The NEF’s Director of Publicity and Advocacy/Spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, expressed grave worry over what he saw as the government’s disconnection from the difficult reality that regular Nigerians must endure.

He bemoaned the growing divide between the fortunate few in positions of power and the masses suffering from acute hunger and poverty.

Suleiman brought attention to the unrelenting rise in living expenses in a statement, especially the skyrocketing costs of necessities like food, which worsen the already serious condition of widespread hunger and malnutrition throughout the nation.

He emphasized the disconnect between the government’s actions, or lack thereof, and the stark reality on the ground, portraying an administration seemingly isolated from the daily struggles of its citizens.

Suleiman underscored the devastating consequences of unchecked inflation, noting its profound impact on families striving to afford necessities. The escalating prices of staple foods such as rice, beans, and cooking oil have placed immense strain on households already reeling from economic hardship.

Moreover, Suleiman pointed out that the adverse effects of inflation extend beyond food prices, adversely affecting small businesses struggling to survive amid escalating costs of raw materials and transportation.
