Following the destructive rainstorm that ravaged Otta and its environs last Sunday, April 21, 2024, the Federal Government agency, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), accompanied by its Ogun State counterpart, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), visited the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage and offer assistance.

During the visit, officials from NEMA, led by Mr. Kadiri Olarenwaju, Zonal Coordinator for the South West, and representatives from SEMA, paid homage to His Majesty, Kabiyesi Olota, Oba Professor Adeyemi Abdukabir Obalanlege.

Recall that the Olota had earlier conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the affected areas and urged the government to take immediate action to address the aftermath of the storm.

In response to the monarch’s plea, NEMA and SEMA assured him of their commitment to providing assistance to the affected communities.

Hon. Kamardeen Aina, Supervisor for Works and Housing, represented the Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government during the session, highlighting the collaborative effort between local and federal authorities to address the challenges posed by the rainstorm.

The members of Olota-in-Council present at the briefing included High Chief Olarenwaju Bashorun (Seriki of Otta), High Chief Oyedele Deinde(Oluwo of Otta) and High Chief Oladele Adeniji(Odota of Otta).

The residents of Otta remain hopeful for swift and effective intervention from government agencies to rebuild their lives and restore normalcy to the affected areas.
