Breaking News: Movement restrictions in Ijebu over Agemo July 2, 3

On July 1st, 2024, at 11:35 AM, a high-level advisory was issued regarding movement restrictions in Ijebu, Ogun State, due to the upcoming Agemo procession on July 2nd and the festival on July 3rd.

These traditional events, significant to the local culture, necessitate specific routes being closed to prevent incidents and ensure the safety of all participants and observers.

The traditional routes affected by these restrictions include:

  1. Epe/Ijebu Ode
  2. Isiwo/Ijebu Ode
  3. Ijebu Imusin/Ijebu Ode
  4. Ago-Iwoye/Oru/Ijebu Ode
  5. Okun-Owa/Agoro/Imodi-Imosan
  6. Odogbolu/Ijebu Ode

Women are strictly prohibited from viewing the Agemo paraphernalia, and movement will be restricted from 2 pm onwards on the specified dates. These measures are essential to maintain order and uphold the cultural sanctity of the Agemo events.

Advisory: Residents and visitors are kindly requested to comply with these directives and avoid movements within the aforementioned date and time. Ensuring adherence to these guidelines is crucial for the smooth conduct of the Agemo procession and festival.

The Agemo festival is a time-honored tradition in Ijebu, featuring a series of rituals and celebrations that hold deep cultural significance.

The procession on July 2nd will see participants traveling through the designated routes, culminating in the festival activities on July 3rd.
