His Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, inaugurated the planning committee for the 2024 Iganmode Cultural Festival, underscoring the event’s cultural significance.

In a significant effort to preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of the Awori people, His Majesty, Oba Professor Adeyemi Abdukabir Obalanlege, Ph.D., MCIPR, MPRII, FHEA, the Olota of Otta, officially inaugurated the planning committee for the 2024 Iganmode Cultural Festival.

The ceremony took place at the Ipeti Royal Palace, with esteemed members of the Olota-in-Council in attendance.

Engr. Temitayo Idowu, the Otun Bobagunwa of Otta, has been appointed to lead the committee, following his successful leadership in the previous edition.

His Majesty praised the committee’s past achievements and called for an even more prestigious celebration this year. He emphasised the importance of inclusive planning, urging the committee to ensure active participation from all indigenes of Ottaland and neighbouring communities.

The 2024 Iganmode Cultural Festival, set to commence on 16 December 2024 and culminate in a grand finale on 21 December, will take place in the historic city of Otta.

The event will showcase contributions from community leaders, political figures, corporate entities, and other distinguished individuals, reaffirming the festival’s significance within the national consciousness and promoting the identity and pride of the Awori people.

Engr. Idowu, speaking on behalf of the committee, expressed their commitment to surpassing expectations and making the 2024 festival a remarkable celebration of Awori culture.

The 2024 festival planning committee includes notable figures such as Chief Yomi Olojeloju, Chief (Mrs.) Iyabo Ahmed, Araba Ifaniyi Fasola, Hon. Solomon Bankole, Mr. Layiwola Taiwo (Diaspora), Mr. Qudus Ajibola Ogunleye, and Princess Bukola Tiwalade Fadina.

The Iganmode Cultural Festival, also known as Odun Omo Iganmode, is an annual event that celebrates the rich traditions and history of the Awori people. It serves as a platform to honour the legacy of ancestors and freedom fighters who have contributed to the economic, social, and political stability of Ottaland and the wider Awori Kingdom.
