The Dangote Refinery has launched its first Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from its Lagos facility, promising high-quality petrol for Nigerian vehicles.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Dangote Refinery has officially launched its first Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from its state-of-the-art facility in Lagos.

This facility, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, aims to provide high-quality petrol for Nigerians.

At a press conference today, Aliko Dangote, the owner of the refinery, assured the public that the petrol produced will enhance vehicle performance. “You will not be having an engine issue, which a lot of us were having. It won’t happen at all,” he said.

Dangote stated that the quality of petrol will be competitive globally, promising standards that match those in the United States. He highlighted that the refinery is ready to start supplying the product as soon as it finalises agreements with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

“This will help restore industry and manufacturing. We will begin real import substitution,” he noted, emphasising that this will stabilise the naira and reduce inflation and living costs.

The Dangote Refinery commenced operations last December with an initial capacity of 350,000 barrels per day. After overcoming regulatory challenges, it aims to reach its full capacity by year-end. The refinery has already begun supplying diesel and aviation fuel to marketers across Nigeria.
