Graham Potter, the former Chelsea coach, has openly accepted responsibility for the club’s disappointing performance during his tenure.

In a statement shared on Fabrizio Romano’s X handle, Potter remarked, “I take responsibility for the results.”

He further explained, “The easy solution is to say Chelsea aren’t winning, so it must be the coach. That might not be 100 per cent wrong, but it’s not 100 per cent right.” This candid admission highlights the complexity of the situation at Chelsea.

Potter’s time at Chelsea was short-lived. He was appointed in September 2022 after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, with the club paying Brighton approximately £21 million in compensation for his services and those of his backroom staff. However, after just over six months in charge, Potter was dismissed.

During his tenure, he managed to secure 12 wins, eight draws, and suffered 11 losses across all competitions. This record ultimately led to his exit from the club, despite signing a five-year contract.
