This collaboration aligns with NASRE’s ongoing mission to assist journalists facing severe health and financial challenges.

The foundation has previously organised three successful outreach programmes, benefiting over 70 individuals, including journalists suffering from partial strokes and bereaved families.

On Wednesday, 5th February 2025, the NASRE team was warmly received at the Rite Foods Head Office in Ikeja, Lagos, where discussions were held to solidify the partnership.

Representing Rite Foods’ Managing Director, Mr Saleem Adegunwa, the Head of Corporate Communications and Brand Management, Mr Ekuma Eze, expressed his appreciation for NASRE’s impactful initiatives.

Commitment to Journalists’ Welfare

During the visit, NASRE’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Adeyemi Obadimu, highlighted the foundation’s dedication to assisting veteran journalists who, despite their meritorious service, now struggle with financial and health difficulties.

“Journalism is a thankless job. While our work is acknowledged in bylines, we must also look out for our colleagues who have spent their lives informing the public,” Obadimu stated.

Further reinforcing this message, NASRE’s Director of Public Engagement, Mr Bunmi Obarotimi, announced plans to officially launch the NASRE Foundation this year.

He expressed gratitude for Rite Foods’ partnership, emphasising the company’s role in sustaining media professionals’ welfare.

Rite Foods’ Commitment to Social Responsibility

In response, Rite Foods’ representative, Mr Ekuma Eze, praised NASRE’s humanitarian efforts and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting journalists and their families.

“At Rite Foods, we recognise the vital role journalists play in society. Their well-being is of great importance to us, and we are committed to providing meaningful support to ensure they receive the care they deserve,” Eze stated.

Beyond financial aid, Eze highlighted the company’s broader goal of fostering an environment where media practitioners can thrive.

He also shared Rite Foods’ expansion plans, which include extending its operations beyond Nigeria into other African markets.

“We are not only focused on strengthening our presence in Nigeria but also on contributing to Africa’s economic growth. Our expansion will create more jobs, enhance service delivery, and boost the beverage and food industries,” he added.

Rite Foods remains committed to innovation and excellence in the food and beverage sector while actively supporting initiatives that promote social responsibility and community development.
