Military personnel invaded Ikeja Electric’s office in Lagos, assaulting staff and disrupting operations after a power disconnection incident

Armed soldiers entered the premises, effectively crippling operations and instilling panic among the electricity distribution company’s employees.

A disturbing video obtained by the Freelanews captured the armed military personnel forcing their way into the office, with several soldiers seen wielding rifles.

The footage also revealed that more than seven staff members were compelled to kneel on the floor while other employees were assaulted, enduring the same harsh treatment.

The source of the confrontation reportedly stemmed from an earlier dispute between Ikeja Electric and the Nigerian Air Force.

On Wednesday, the company disconnected the power supply to the Nigerian Air Force logistics base in Ikeja, a decision that appears to have triggered the military’s violent response.

As the soldiers entered the Ikeja Electric office, staff members were caught off guard and feared for their safety. Many sought refuge in an attempt to avoid further assaults, heightening the sense of danger inside the facility.

The armed invasion has raised questions about the safety of workers and the extent to which the military might intervene in civil matters.

The actions of the military personnel have led to a growing sense of insecurity among the staff, with the shocking incident threatening to escalate further if not properly addressed.

This episode marks a significant moment in the ongoing tension between state-run entities and service providers in Lagos, particularly in relation to the authority and reach of the military in civilian operations.
