Rivers Police Inspector Maxwell Zubu allegedly commits suicide in Port Harcourt; investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]ragedy struck in the Eagle Island area of Port Harcourt on Tuesday as Inspector Maxwell Zubu, a police officer attached to the Rivers State Police Command, was found dead in an apparent suicide.

Zubu, who was reportedly serving as a security detail to a former Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, allegedly shot himself under yet-to-be-determined circumstances. The reasons leading to the incident remain unclear at this time.
According to reports, the case was promptly reported to the Police post in Eagle Island, which falls under the Azikiwe Police Division in Illabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu. Officers from the division were said to have visited the scene to commence preliminary investigations.
A source within the police command, who requested anonymity, confirmed that law enforcement personnel had launched standard investigative procedures immediately after the incident.

Confirming the development, Grace Iringe-Koko, Superintendent of Police and spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, acknowledged the incident but refrained from giving detailed information pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
“Yes, I can confirm, but we have commenced investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident and we will make our findings public,” Iringe-Koko stated.
“For now, the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt for detailed investigation.”
