[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who, on behalf of the government, underscored the critical role of peace in fostering industrialization and economic development within the nation.
In a statement issued Tuesday night and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister lauded Nigerian workers for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices.
He affirmed that their contributions are fundamental to Nigeria’s progress and its standing on the global stage.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the value of hard work, stating, “There is dignity in labour,” and highlighted that a strong commitment to work is indispensable for the development of the nation.
He encouraged Nigerian workers to embrace innovation and enhance productivity to improve governance and ensure that all citizens benefit from the country’s resources.
The Minister also reiterated the current administration’s dedication to protecting lives and property throughout Nigeria.
