Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) under Governor Soludo has approved the establishment of the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC) and named the new Government House Mini City “Light House Awka,” furthering his transformation agenda

This key decision was made during its 10th meeting held on Monday, June 2, 2025.

According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, ANSEC, acting in line with its functions as outlined in the recently assented Anambra State Electricity Law, has initiated the framework for ASERC’s formation.

This includes launching a recruitment drive to attract subject-matter experts to join the new commission, signaling a serious commitment to regulating the state’s electricity sector.

During the same meeting, ANSEC also explored comprehensive strategies to restore Anambra society, reshape its moral and social structures, and cement these initiatives as a lasting legacy of the Soludo administration.

Anambra is rising and we are ready to work with you.

This development directly stems from Governor Soludo’s vision of making infrastructure the focal point of his government, aiming to transform the state into the “Dubai-Taiwan Silicon Valley” of the country, where business and economic activities can flourish.

In a related development from the ANSEC meeting, the Council officially named the new Government House Mini-City the “Light House Awka.” This name is in keeping with Anambra State’s evocative slogan, “Light of the Nation.”

The “Light House Awka” represents a significant achievement, breaking a 34-year jinx as such a comprehensive government facility had been lacking since the state’s creation in 1991.

The mini-city comprises the newly built Government House and Lodge, the Deputy Governor’s building, the Governor’s Office, 24 other supporting structures, a world-class amphitheatre, and an auditorium.

It is accessed by an impressive eight-lane dualized road, named Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who recently commissioned the “Light House Awka,” expressed his profound admiration for the project.

Overwhelmed by what he saw, President Tinubu remarked, “Anambra is rising and we are ready to work with you,” signaling strong federal support for Governor Soludo’s transformative efforts.
